Summary: Hitler and the Nazi's
When Hitler rose to power he declared that there were two races, the aryans who were the master race and the non-aryans such as jews, gypsies, and slavs who were inferior to the aryans. Hitler stated how Germany needed more living space or the term he used which was "Lebensraum". He soon executed all non-aryans because they were inferior to hitler. Hitler's actions towards the Jews soon led to what is known as the Holocaust(slaughter of jews and other inferior races). Germany passed the Nuremberg Laws in which Jews' rights were taken away from them and they could no longer socialize or marry non jewish citizens. When World War 2 and the holocaust came to an end, the loss of human life was estimated at about 6 million jews.
Essential Question: What were the justifications for the Nazi persecution of the Jews? The justifications of the nazi persecutions of the jews was that the Nazi's thought of the jews as a lesser human being. Many laws were made (Nuremberg Laws) and speeches from Hitler clarifying how he wanted a perfect and pure aryan race. When things didn't go his way Hitler would automatically blame the jews. When Hitler spoke to a crowd in Berlin in 1942, he explained,"and we say that the war will not end as the Jews imagine it will, namely with the uprooting of the Aryans, but the result of this war will be the complete annihilation of the Jews. Hitler would not stop until his race was purified and was full of aryans.
